The Landtag of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern has lifted immunity of former AfD MEP Holger Arppe. The former deputy chairman of Bundestag Group was eliminated from AfD group after Internet entries with racist violence and children's pornography fantasies, attributable to him, had become public.
But he did not return his Landtag mandate. Parliament unanimously approved permit to continue prosecution on recommendation of Committee on Legal Affairs of Landtag.
The District Court of Rostock has asked for permission. Arppe, who is still a member of AfD, was absent from Landtag meeting.
At end of August, NDR reported on chat protocols to show that Arppe political opponents threatened violence. "You just have to freak out and first send [sic] whole green scum to scaffold. And n guillotine up and down, that rind is cracking! ", station quoted, among or things, from protocols.
The logs should be copies of Arppes private Facebook messages from years 2011 to 2017 in range of around 12,000 pages. Arppe is also said to have a positive opinion about a Rostock lawyer and local politician whose living and office space had been searched by federal prosecutor in context of a Antiterroraktion. According to NDR, chat histories also document how close AfD in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern to extreme right-Identitary movement (IB) has been approached – despite federal party's incompatibility decision.
Arppe, which was attributed to right-wing national AfD, had in past been repeatedly criticized with public statements. 2015, he was sentenced to a fine by District Court of Rostock in first instance for sedition.
The AfD was first elected to Schwerin Landtag a year ago. With 20.8 percent of votes was Siezweitstärkste force.
