Corsica: an event in

A manifestation of "popular and peaceful" will take place, as "probably the 3 of February", to protest against the doors "closed" by the government on the folder corsica, announced Wednesday the president of the local executive corsica Gilles Simeoni. It will be organized in Ajaccio or Bastia.

", A large popular mobilization"

This event, whose date has yet to be finalised with elected officials and movements in corsica, is to say that "we will have no part in a process that would not be at the height of the stakes," said the elected autonomist in an interview.

"The event will take the form of a broad popular mobilization, peaceful, responsible, determined, which is the expression of all the Corsicans who choose to participate in this event, their will as citizens, of their expectation of their hope, as in the present and the future of the Corsica," said Gilles Simeoni.

An event three days before the visit of Macron

The event must take place three days before the president's visit Emmanuel Macron on the island, in the framework of the commemorations of the 20th anniversary of the assassination of the prefect Claude Erignac. In this perspective, Gilles Simeoni has firmly ruled out to organize this event on 6 February. "We have too much respect for the date that it represents", he stressed.

Nevertheless, it was important to organize the mobilization in the context of the coming of the head of the State: "we understand that we are in a political sequence that is both dense and short" and that"at the moment I am speaking, the doors to dialogue are closed of by the choices which are made by the government and by the State", he pointed out.

"It is important for us to explain, first, that we will have no part in a process that would not be at the height of the issues that we consider for our part as fundamental. And on the other hand, that we share and that we want to pass as quickly as possible all the opportunities for this dialogue to occur really quickly," he further explained.
